Jon graduated from Crookston Central High School in 1990. He served in the United States Army from 1990 until 1992. Jon received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Minnesota in 1997. In 2001, Jon received a Juris Doctor from the University of North Dakota School of Law. While attending UND, Jon was president of the Moot Court Board, vice-president of the Environmental Law Society, member of the Judicial Branch for the University of North Dakota student government, and also a member of the Order of the Barristers. Jon was admitted to practice law by the Minnesota State Bar Association on October 26, 2001.
Jon interned for the United States Army JAG Corps and the Polk County Attorney's Office before beginning his practice in Bemidji. Jon was an associate attorney with the firm of Hazelton and Rodgers from 2001 until 2005.
Jon's wife Annie works for the Beltrami County Attorney's Office as an Assistant County Attorney. She is also a 2001 graduate of UND's School of Law and former student-body president. Annie and Jon have one daughter and all three enjoy outdoor activities including: fishing, hunting, skiing, and hiking.
Jon focuses his practice on worker's compensation as well as personal injury law.
